Synonyms manager

The synonyms manager is designated for compiling a list of synonyms which will be used when searching for documents. It should be noted though that utilizing this function is worthwhile only when the system contains a high-quality and rather large dictionary of synonyms. The synonyms manager is meant specially for creating such a dictionary. Read more about synonyms in the "What you need for a high-quality search?" paragraph.

The synonyms manager can be accessed from the main application window in the following ways:

- Menu "Options"- "synonyms manager"
- You can click the button managers tool bar if it is switched on.

This results in emerging of the following window:

You can add synonyms in two different ways: "Add synonym line" and "Add synonym group".
To add a new word into the synonyms dictionary you should press the button

and select in the dropping menu the "Add synonym line" option. Correspondingly, to edit some word in the synonyms dictionary, press the button

and select the "Modify synonym line" option. The following window will emerge:

The word which you want to add synonyms to should be entered into the field. On the right the list of words to choose the synonyms from, is available. You should select the word that you consider to be synonymous to the sample one. If you want to avoid the inconvenience of scrolling through the whole long list of synonyms, you can enter the first couple of letters into the "New synonym" field and the curser will automatically switch to the corresponding word.
To bind the synonym to the sample word, press the button

. Correspondingly, to unbind the word, press the button

, or if you want to delete all the synonyms, press the button

.
The checked box

opposite the synonym means, that double binding is fixed between the sample word and the corresponding synonym. This means that if the box is not checked, the application will consider that only the sample word can be replaced by the corresponding synonyms, not vice versa. If the sign

is checked opposite some synonym, during search the application will compare this synonym with the sample word.
To delete a word with all its synonyms press the button

in the synonyms manager.
The button

shows the quick synonyms search line in the application window. The quick search works like the "New synonym" field in the window for editing synonyms.
